American-Cannabis Cultivation Facility

Project Overview
AmeriCann designs, builds and owns efficient, state of the art cultivation and processing facilities for the production of medical cannabis. They own and operate many facilities throughout the US.

Americann Freetown is a multiphase cultivation facility located on 45 acres adjacent to Route 24 in Freetown, MA. The project is to be built in a number of phases with the total build out of approximately 1,000,000 SF

KEG led all aspects of the site design and permitting for the project. KEG provided topographic and property line surveys; performed due diligence/ planning level studies; provided civil/site design including site layout, grading, and utilities; coordinated transportation planning; prepared all permit applications; coordinated with the Town representatives; and represented the project through the public hearing process.

The project was complicated by its inception as one of the first projects pursuant to the legalization of medical marijuana in Massachusetts. Challenges included security and water supply.

KEG used Low Impact Development principles to develop the site by working within previously disturbed areas and by incorporating bio swales and rain gardens to facilitate groundwater infiltration and limit project runoff. The project will include many technological advances that will ensure proper application of daylight and irrigation.
