Boston Scientific Campus, Marlborough, MA
Project Overview
This project is one of many that KEG has worked with Margulies Peruzzi Architects of Boston, MA. This project involved the redevelopment and expansion of the existing Boston Scientific Campus in Marlborough, MA. Boston Scientific, a globally ranked company dedicated to transforming lives through innovative medical solutions, combined their local operations to this Marlborough facility.
The redevelopment of the campus included the construction of a new 111,000 sf office building, the modernizing and redevelopment of the parking facilities, enhancements of pedestrian circulation and landscaping and the construction of a daycare facility.
Challenges to the site design included topographic and challenges relating to maintaining use of this busy facility during construction. KEG worked closely with the project team and Boston Scientific to ensure that all needs were met.
KEG led all aspects of the site design and permitting for the project. KEG provided topographic and property line surveys; performed due diligence/ planning level studies; provided civil/site design including site layout, grading, and utilities; coordinated transportation, wetlands and noise mitigation planning; prepared all permit applications; coordinated with the Town representatives; and represented the project through the public hearing process.
KEG utilized Low Impact Development principles by incorporating bio swales and rain gardens to facilitate groundwater infiltration and limit project runoff. Large subsurface recharge systems were constructed to mitigate storm runoff.
