Life Science Campus Waltham

Project Overview
This project is one of many projects for Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc.. Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc. is a real estate investment trust (REIT) and owns, develops, and operates offices and laboratories, with more than 160 properties in ten states and Canada. Biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, government agencies, and similar tenants occupy its properties. The REIT’s properties, which contain more than 12 million sq. ft. of rentable space, throughout the US including 5 million sq. ft. in Cambridge.

The Campus on Second Avenue in Waltham includes adjacent properties. Alexandria has since added the properties at 266 and 275 to the campus. The challenge with this project was to reposition older buildings primarily used as offices into a modern state of the art facility where pedestrian and outside amenities are enhanced.

KEG led all aspects of the site design and permitting for the project. KEG provided topographic and property line surveys; performed due diligence/ planning level studies; provided civil/site design including site layout, grading, and utilities; coordinated transportation planning and resource area delineations; prepared all permit applications; coordinated with the City representatives; and represented the project through the complex public hearing process.
