Newton Nexus

Project Overview
Newton Nexus is one of many projects that KEG has worked with Crosspoint in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont. Crosspoint, headquartered in Waltham has over 2.5M square feet of office industrial and retail real estate throughout New England. Newton Nexus is located on Needham Street in Newton is one more piece in the transformation of Needham Street from a former industrial area into a vibrant mixed use corridor. KEG has provided services to a number of clients along Needham Street being a partner in that transformation.

KEG led all aspects of the site design and permitting for the project including topographic and property line surveys; provided civil/site design including site layout, grading, and utilities; coordinated transportation planning; prepared all permit applications; coordinated with the Town representatives; represented the project through the complex public hearing process and provided CA services during construction.

The project involved complicated local and state permitting. State permits included completion of the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act process and Mass DOT access permitting process. The project required City Council and Conservation Commission approval.

The project was complicated by its location in the flood plain to an adjacent stream and further complicated by a sloping flood plain which required complex compensatory storage and stormwater management analysis.
